About Me
My name is Kelsey Kayton. I'm currently a Ph.D. Student at Ohio University in the Experimental Psychology Program (with a concentration in Social Psychology) working with Dr. Keith Markman.
When I'm not working on my Ph.D. or related activities, I enjoy crocheting, playing tennis, and spending time with my bunny, Milo! (see below for photos of Milo).
Feel free to contact me if you want to chat about social psychology, my specific research interests, or my experiences! :)
Main Research Interests
My research interests broadly involve understanding how reflections on the past and hypothetical situations shape one's views of their relationships with others and oneself.
My current projects incorporate the following topics:
Nostalgia
Investigating the affective signature of nostalgia and how nostalgia impacts our current and future self-perceptions and relationships with others.
Subjective Temporal Distance
Examining how our perception of temporal distance affects the way we mentally reconstruct and simulate past events, as well as the self-related factors that contribute to one's perceptions of temporal distance from the past.
Counterfactual Thinking
Analyzing how imagining alternative scenarios and engaging in counterfactual thinking influence our mental simulations of different self-concepts and possible futures.
